The Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute (IJC) is a comprehensive cancer research center dedicated to conduct research and drive innovation in the epidemiological, preventive, clinical, translational, and basic aspects of leukaemia and other hematologic malignancies, with the final aim of finding a cure for these diseases. It was created in 2010, and since then has experienced an exponential growth.

The IJC is also part of the network of Excellence Research Centers of Catalonia (CERCA) and was accredited as a Severo Ochoa Center of Excellence by the Ministry of Science, Innovation, and Universities in 2024. Since 2018, the Institute has also been accredited by the Scientific Foundation of the Spanish Association Against Cancer (FCAECC) Additionally, IJC is one of the centers integrated into the Institut de Recerca Germans Trias i Pujol (IGTP) accreditation as Accredited Health Research Institute (IIS) by the Carlos III Health Institute (ISCIII).

The IJC's main headquarters is located within the Can Ruti Biomedical Campus, alongside other leading biomedical institutions, providing direct access to cutting-edge scientific and technological facilities, as well as complementary community services. The IJC has six locations integrated into reference hospitals: Hospital Germans Trias i Pujol, Hospital Clínic, Hospital Sant Pau, Hospital Josep Trueta, Hospital del Mar and Hospital San Joan de Déu. This facilitates close collaboration between basic and clinical researchers, fostering translational research that integrates basic science with clinical practice in clinical settings.

We are seeking to recruit two Facilities Maintenance Technicians to join its Facilities and Infrastructure Unit. The successful candidates will provide technical support to ensure the efficient operation and maintenance of the Institute's buildings, facilities and technical systems. They will also contribute to the organisation of institutional events and provide logistical support for the Institute's day-to-day activities.

The positions report directly to the Head of Facilities and Infrastructure.

MAIN RESPONSABILITIES

• Coordinate the day-to-day operation of maintenance service contracts for the Institute's facilities.

• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance of building facilities and technical systems, including electrical installations, plumbing and HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) systems.

• Diagnose and resolve maintenance incidents and coordinate external contractors when required.

• Support the implementation of new technologies and continuous improvements in facilities maintenance.

• Participate as a member of the Institute's Emergency Response Team and contribute to health, safety and emergency preparedness activities.

• Provide logistical support for internal office relocations and space reorganisation.

• Support the organisation of institutional events, training activities, scientific symposia, conferences, institutional visits and PhD thesis defences.

• Perform any other duties related to the position as assigned by the Head of Facilities and Infrastructure.

• Contribute to the continuous improvement of maintenance procedures, processes and service quality.

WHAT WE NEED

• Vocational Education and Training (VET) qualification (Intermediate or Higher Level) in Facilities Maintenance or a related technical discipline.

• At least 3 years' professional experience in building or facilities maintenance.

• Solid knowledge of electrical systems, plumbing and HVAC installations.

• Basic knowledge of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).

• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications and Building Management Systems (BMS).

• Professional proficiency in Catalan and Spanish.

• Basic level of English.

• Training in Occupational Health and Safety and/or Biosafety.

• Previous experience working in biomedical facilities, laboratories or research institutes.

• Experience in occupational risk prevention and emergency management.

• Valid driving licence (own vehicle is an advantage).
