The Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute (IJC) is a comprehensive cancer research center dedicated to conduct research and drive innovation in the epidemiological, preventive, clinical, translational, and basic aspects of leukaemia and other hematologic malignancies, with the final aim of finding a cure for these diseases. It was created in 2010, and since then has experienced an exponential growth.
The IJC is also part of the network of Excellence Research Centers of Catalonia (CERCA) and was accredited as a Severo Ochoa Center of Excellence by the Ministry of Science, Innovation, and Universities in 2024. Since 2018, the Institute has also been accredited by the Scientific Foundation of the Spanish Association Against Cancer (FCAECC) Additionally, IJC is one of the centers integrated into the Institut de Recerca Germans Trias i Pujol (IGTP) accreditation as Accredited Health Research Institute (IIS) by the Carlos III Health Institute (ISCIII).
The IJC's main headquarters is located within the Can Ruti Biomedical Campus, alongside other leading biomedical institutions, providing direct access to cutting-edge scientific and technological facilities, as well as complementary community services. The IJC has six locations integrated into reference hospitals: Hospital Germans Trias i Pujol, Hospital Clínic, Hospital Sant Pau, Hospital Josep Trueta, Hospital del Mar and Hospital San Joan de Déu. This facilitates close collaboration between basic and clinical researchers, fostering translational research that integrates basic science with clinical practice in clinical settings.
We are looking for a Technology Transfer Officer to join the IJC legal Area. This office is responsible of driving innovation by advancing the transfer of IJC’s knowledge and technologies to healthcare, industry, and society, ensuring IP protection and promoting collaborative opportunities.
YOUR MISSION
The Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute (IJC) is seeking an experienced Technology Transfer Officer to coordinate the Management and protection of intellectual property (IP) and the Valorization and commercialization of research results of our Institute.
MAIN RESPONSABILITIES
Management and protection of intellectual property (IP):
• Identify, evaluate and manage inventions and research results susceptible to protection arising from internal research activities.
• Coordinate the IP-application process for patents, utility models, copyrights, trademarks, etc. (manage costs, maintenance and IP strategy), in collaboration with legal and patent professionals.
Valorization and commercialization of research results:
• Conduct market analysis, and competitive landscape to evaluate the potential of technologies to support valorisation strategies
• Develop valorisation strategies (proof of concept, validation, etc.).
• Prepare marketing materials (technology offers, pitch decks, technical dossiers).
• Define business/exploitation models, develop and implement commercialization for early-stage technologies and capabilities including licensing, collaboration agreements, service agreements and other exploitation routes.
• Support the creation and early development of spin-offs.
• Participate in Technology and Innovation fairs, networks, partnering events and industry meetings to promote institutional the knowledge, capabilities and technologies.
• Maintain productive relationships with the innovation ecosystem stakeholders.
WHAT WE NEED
• Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in Life Sciences. PhD degree will be an asset.
• Five years minimum work experience in technology transfe, research valorisation or innovation management in the biomedical sector.
• Proficient in writing and speaking in English.
• Proactivity, initiative and solving problem’s ability.
• Leadership and teamworking.
• Ability to work independently and efficiently.
• Ability to work within tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong organizational, planning, and analytical skills.
• Ability to work cooperatively and inclusively with others to achieve shared goals.
• Good knowledge of Office 365; advanced skills in Excel will be an asset.
